Yellow For St. David’s Day

March 5, 2021

Growing up in Wales, St. David’s Day was always a day to look forward to. To celebrate the patron saint of Wales, we’d dress up in traditional Welsh costumes, bake bara brith (a fruity loaf cake) and wear one of the national emblems – either a leek or a daffodil. At school we even used to make hand-drawn cards for our parents to say “Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant Hapus” (Happy St. David’s Day in Welsh)!

I remember always being so excited when the first daffodils starting blooming in February as it meant St. David’s Day (and hence spring) was just around the corner.

So the colour yellow has always signified the beginning of spring to me, and it’s around this time of year that I start being drawn to these lemony hues in my wardrobe.

I couldn’t resist this frilly linen pyjama set from Sleeper in a gorgeous daffodil yellow. Waking up in this bright, refreshing colour set me up for such a cheerful day! I love the relaxed, effortless look of slightly creased linen, don’t you?

Below you’ll find a selection of the sunny yellow pieces I’m currently loving that I hope will get you in the mood for spring.
